Silicone Fluid (SF 1000) is Polydimethylsiloxane, whose structure, amazing combination of chemical and physical properties are dependent on the presence of the unique silicone-oxygen-silicone skeleton. Available in the form of crystal-clear liquid of viscosity 1000 centistokes. Its service life at high temperature can be considerably increased by employment in closed system out of contact with air or oxygen. It is characterized by non-toxicity and non-irritating, Oxidation resistance, water repellency, high resistance to permanent break-down due to shear.
Applications
- As a most efficient polishing agent used in most automobile and furniture polishes, resulting in polishes that develop a high gloss with least rubbing.
- As excellent lubricant for rubber and plastic surfaces, including gears, bearings, bushings, motion picture film and photograph records.
- As water-repellent treatment for glass, ceramic etc.
- As an excellent release agent in moulding plastic and rubber, non-ferrous metal die casting.
Solubility and Compatibility
SF 1000 is soluble in hydrocarbon solvents, and in low molecular weight aromatic solvents. Limited solubility in acetone, alcohols, ethers of glycols and solubility varies with viscosity.
