The cyclic silicone acts as a volatile carrier, spreading the high molecular weight silicone uniformly across a surface, and then volatilizing to leave a thin film of silicone. This product offers a number of performance attributes for personal care products, especially a unique smooth, non-greasy feel. Dimethicone is a silicone polymer with a wide variety of uses, from cosmetics industries used as a skin protectant in skincare products and hair protectant in hair serum. The second most common moisturizing ingredient found in moisturizers after petrolatum, dimethicone helps condition the skin—improving its softness and flexibility. It is particularly known for its unusual rheological properties.
